  It's not illegal to smoke, only to smoke IN a public building in most states.

  No I don't think people should be fired for smoking.
  
  However, it does bother me that smokers are "alloowed" tons of extra breaks to go smoke throughout the day. That does not seem fair to me. So if they are fired for taking extra breaks I have no problem.
